2009-10 LAKE DRIVE PROJECT

This beautiful home overlooks the beautiful bluffs of Lake Michigan. However, the challenge was creating useful space on the bluff for entertaining and a swimming pool.

I designed a landscape that complimented the homes arcthitechture with an added curve or two for interest. I wanted the view from the first floor to the bluffs to be uninterrupted so stair and planters were designed up tight to the house inside of the sight line. This technique allowed for the homeowner to visibly view the lake bluffs without having the patios and pool areas become the main focal point. Also by breaking up the wall heights, less engineering and "tall wall heights" were avoided. Materials were chose for engineering, complimentary aspects to the home and for budget reasons.

The project when completed, will feature beautiful custom pavers. Coping stone along the pool and patio edges will add complimentary detail and interest. Plantings have been strategically designed to create privacy, color, fragrance while complimenting the home's arcitcture and softening the hardscapes. Nightlighting will also be added to bring this spectacular home and landscape to life at night. Check back for updates.
