Do I really need a landscape plan? Yes. A good plan should include all of the mechanics you require for your lifestyle (i.e.: entertaining, relaxing, cooking, etc.), have good flow, plantings should have year round interest and screening and privacy should also be considered. You have a plan designed for your indoor living spaces; it is just as important to have the correct layout for your outdoor living spaces.

How much does an average landscape plan cost? An average landscape design costs about $600-$800.00. This price is based on an hourly rate and time spent measuring, gathering site information, designing, etc. Projects that require Planning Commission approval are slightly higher. After your plan is complete we present the design in great detail including plant photos, hardscape information and a detailed proposal for work.

How do I know I will like what M.J.S. LANDSCAPING SERVICES, L.L.C. designs? Your input is valuable and extremely important in the design process. We design around you! We will offer suggestions and help our clients if needed. We created our Construction Questionnaire so that we have everything needed to design the landscape YOU want!

Is the landscape plan mine to keep? Yes. Our landscape plan is a separate service that we offer. Once designed and presented it is your plan. If you are having other contractors install concrete and decks you can make copies and give them to potential contractors for bid. We hope we are awarded your landscape project, and if so, we credit 100% of your landscape design fee.

How do I begin determining my landscape budget? I have no idea what anything costs? A general rule is to budget 10% of your home's value including property. This may be a little high or low depending if you add custom upgrades such as brick/natural paver patios and walkways, need large retaining walls, custom outdoor kitchens, outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, nightlighting etc. M.J.S LANDSCAPING SERVICES, L.L.C., offers all landscape projects to be "phased" in over a period of time. This allows our clients to get everything they want in their landscape while stretching the cost out over a period of time.

Does M.J.S LANDSCAPING SERVICES, L.L.C., warranty all of their work? Yes. All of our plantings have a 1 year warranty from the time of installation and all of our hardscapes have a 3 year warranty against failure due to settling.

Does M.J.S. LANDSCAPING SERVICES, L.L.C., hire subcontractors to do their work? No. We install all of our landscape construction work. If additional contractors are needed to install concrete and decks M.J.S LANDSCAPING SERVICES, L.L.C., has a list of preferred contractors we work with. This allows our clients to choose someone they feel comfortable with, have the experts in these fields answer questions and allow us to work closely with these professionals so they are onsite when required and follow the design.

If I choose to care for my landscape myself how will I know what to do? We give planting and lawn care sheets to all of our clients during our final walkthrough after completion. Our clients can also call or email us anytime with questions.

M.J.S. LANDSCAPING SERIVICES, L.L.C., just installed my new lawn. When do I fertilize it? All new lawns installed are followed up with a complimentary custom fertilizer approximately 3-5 weeks after initial installation. In the meantime a "First Year Starter Fertilization" program is sent to our clients. This is a competitive proposal designed just for new lawns. Prior to the second season our clients will receive a competitive proposal for our 5 step lawn care program.
